DESIGN
A subcommittee was set up with the task of looking to build on the past and current branding to create cohesion with a strong mascot that was both significant to the local area and unique within the cricket community. The mascot would help strengthen the pathway from juniors to seniors. Eventually the subcommittee settled on the short finned eel to be a mascot of the club. The short finned eel was chosen as it is indigenous to the local area and has survived across the entire period of ECC. The brief was then put out to various designers with the committee eventually deciding to progress with my design. We worked through many versions until deciding on these main designs. The brand vocabulary is incredibly versatile so that it can be used throughout a vast amount of outputs.

The special sauce, The eel’s tail is a cricket bat in movement. The circle badge, the border, style and wickets are all references to one of the founding logos.
